Songfacts®:

  • This bluesy, horns-soaked number comes from the original Experience's final 1969 studio session at Record Plant Studios, New York City on April 14, 1969.
  • An early version of "Night Bird Flying," lyrically the song is about forgetting one's troubles through lovemaking.
  • The track's uniquely juicy tone was achieved by putting the guitar feed through a Leslie keyboard speaker. Hendrix engineer and producer Eddie Kramer explained to Toronto's The Globe and Mail: "It's a trick I used to do with Traffic and a bunch of other bands. Jimi was never afraid of experimenting."
