It's My Nose's Birthday

Album: The Best Loved Songs Of Jimmy Durante (1964)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • The 17th Century dramatist Cyrano de Bergerac is said to have fought duels in defense of his extraordinarily large nose. Though it remains to be seen if this was quite the case, Jimmy Durante chose an entirely different route, cracking jokes about his nose, which he called his Schnozzola.

"It's My Nose's Birthday" is a musical version of this self-deprecating banter, well, some would call it musical. Credited to Crane, Durante and Harris, it can be found on several of his records, and is also the B Side of the 1964 version of "I'm the Guy Who Found The Lost Chord," which if anything is even worse. >>>
