Songfacts®:

  • Jinjer is a Ukrainian metalcore band who formed in 2008 but didn't release their first full-length album, Cloud Factory, until 2014. It includes this monologue from an alien who has spent time living among people on Earth and observing their behavior. "And it's in complete shock and it wants to leave the Earth and go back home to whatever planet it came from because of all the horrors and injustice that happens on Earth," Tatiana Shmailyuk, the band's frontwoman, told Songfacts in 2022.
  • The band has gone through several lineup changes, including swapping out original lead singer Maksym Fatullaiev for Shmailyuk in 2010. Roman Ibramkhalilov also joined that year, replacing Rostyslav Lobachov on guitar, as well as Eugene Abdukhanov taking over bass from Oleksiy Svynar the following year. Oleksandr Koziychuk also replaced original drummer Vyacheslav Okhrimenko. This lineup issued the 2012 EP Inhale, Do Not Breathe, and embarked on arduous touring schedule using their own funds. Their hard work paid off when they won the award for Best Ukrainian Metal Act given by the Kyiv-based record label InshaMuzyka.

The lineup was shaken up again on Cloud Factory, with Yevhen Mantulin on drums. Mantulin, however, didn't stick around long. It's his only album with the band.
  • The album also marks Jinjer's first international tour, where they expanded their fanbase and earned the attention of the Austrian indie label Napalm. The band joined Napalm's roster in time to release their sophomore effort, King Of Everything, in 2016. Two years later, the label reissued Cloud Factory to capitalize on Jinjer's growing fame without having to invest more money in additional studio time.
