Songfacts®:

  • This song from Joe Nichols third major label release is what he considers his favorite out of all the songs he's written and subsequently recorded. "It's about living live in excess, which has kind of been my M.O. my whole life," he told us in 2013. "That one really stands out to me because it was very well written - I've very proud of that."

Nichols adds that he has reigned in the excess since he wrote the song: "My life is complete moderation - it's in check. I've got a great wife who helps me do that, plus I've got a brand new baby girl that keeps things in perspective."
  • Nichols wrote this with Donny Lowery, an Alabama-based songwriter who also co-wrote "Stand A Little Rain" by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, "Old Flame" by Alabama, and "Why Does It Have To Be (Wrong or Right)" by Restless Heart.
