Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Nichols singing about a guy agreeing with everything a sexy girl says. He is so taken with her that he is letting the girl "call the shots tonight" and responds to everything with the word "Yeah." Released as the second single from his eighth studio album, Crickets, it was the country star's thirteenth tune to reach the Hot 100.
  • The feel good song was co-written by Nashville songwriters Ashley Gorley and Bryan Simpson, and was one of the first that Nichols cut for Crickets. "'Yeah' is one of the first songs I heard for this album," Nichols told Radio.com. "The first time I heard it, it felt like a hit. And not only that, but it felt like, 'I can sink my teeth into this, and do lots of things with this."
  • The video tells the story of the song in comic book form. It was directed by Wes Edwards, whose lengthy résumé includes Jason Aldean's "Night Train" and Dierks Bentley's "Drunk on a Plane."
