Songfacts®:

  • Walsh recorded There Goes The Neighborhood while he was a member of the Eagles, and he got some help with his vocal technique from Don Henley and Glenn Frey. Regarding this song, he told the BBC, "There's a track called 'Things,' and I heard the music before the words: I couldn't quite think what to write the song about, so I made a list of things that there were possibly to write a song about, and I ended up with a list about ten pages long, so I thought I should write this song about all the things there are – did you ever stop and think of how many things there are? So that turned into a song, and it's a little overwhelming to hear the first time, but if you listen to it three or four times, I think I covered most of the things there are."
