Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Joel Corry teaming up with his fellow DJ and producer Jax Jones. While both artists are generally classified as house musicians, Corry's style is closer to tech house and Jones is more deep house. This EDM-heavy track is a blend of their different sounds.
  • Joel Corry is a huge fan of Stromae's Euro disco classic "Alors On Danse" ("So We Dance" in English) and once the UK came out of lockdown in the summer of 2021, he and Jones agreed it was a perfect time to put their spin on the tune. The track samples the Belgian musician's 2009 hit, borrowing its signature beat to accompany the lyrics about going out clubbing. Said Corry: "Now we can party again, I want everyone to let their hair down and go OUT OUT!"
  • Corry and Jones recruited British singer-songwriter Charli XCX to sing a couple of verses and a chorus about the excitement of meeting up with friends on the dance floor. American rapper Saweetie also spits a verse about looking for love in the club.
  • Joel Corry, Jax Jones, Charli XCX and Saweetie wrote the song with Little Mix's go-to songwriting partner Kamille, along with NONÔ (UK), Låpsley, Amber Van Day, RØRY and Jin Jin.
  • Corry and Jones produced the track with Corry's regular partners in crime, Neave Applebaum and Lewis Thompson.
  • Jax Jones teased a snippet of the track from his August 6, 2021 set at The Ministry of Sound in London. They released it as a single a week later on August 13th.
  • Releasing the song in August 2021 may seem perfect timing as people return to the dancefloors after 18 months of lockdowns, but Corry actually began working on "Out Out" before the COVID era. "I used to play 'Alors on danse' in my DJ sets and had the idea to sample it and put a fresh spin on it," he told Apple Music. "My last gig before lockdown was at Brixton Academy, where I supported Jax. We were chatting about doing a song together and I brought up the Stromae idea and he loved it."
