Songfacts®:

  • Holland, Massachusetts native Joel Crouse is an American country music singer who signed with Show Dog-Universal Music in 2011, and began touring with Toby Keith and The Band Perry. Two years later he was chosen by Taylor Swift for an opening slot on her Red tour. This sing-a-long tune, which was co-written by Crouse with songwriter Luke Laird and producer Jamie Houston, was released as his debut single in February 2013.

Crouse describes this song as "just an invitation to party." He says he got together with Laird and Houston about a week after their initial writing session, and after talking about what a party that was, they came up with the song.
  • When we spoke with Crouse at the 2013 ACM Awards, he explained why this was chosen as his first single. "That one just seemed like the right one to release for summertime," he said. "It's a feel good kind of song. We've got this tour coming up, so we just said, you know, why don't we just go with a really uptempo, feel good, summer tune. And then we'll hit them with a little bit more on an emotional side in the fall. So the rest of the record really portrays me as an artist, what I'm trying to represent."
