Songfacts®:

  • Joey + Rory are the husband and wife Country music duo Joey Martin Feek and Rory Lee Feek. "It's Christmas Time" is a tune written during a stay at Joey's family farmhouse in Indiana. "Just sitting in the house where Joey grew up made me think about all the Christmases she spent there," Rory explains. "All the trees they picked out and decorated, all the gifts wrapped while the kids tried to sneak downstairs, all the Christmas dinners cooked and the last-minute guests who showed up at their door. I woke up early in the morning before anyone else, pulled out my guitar and wrote the song with all that in mind."
  • The single was produced by bluegrass legend Carl Jackson, who also produced the duo's debut album.
  • A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this song will be donated to the local affiliate of Feeding America, The Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee feeds hungry people and works to solve hunger issues in the communities it serves. The Food Bank, which is part of the Feeding America network, distributes food and other products to approximately 400 community food partner agencies in 46 counties in Middle and West Tennessee. Partners include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, child care facilities, senior centers and youth enrichment programs.
  • CMA-nominated Joey + Rory first performed together for an audition of CMT's hit series "Can You Duet" in early 2008, making it through to the finals, where their rendition of "Cheater Cheater" earned them a huge response and went on to become a successful first single on their debut album, The Life of a Song. Since then, they have loaned their voices to television in ads for Overstock.com, and were nominated for ACM Top Vocal Duo and CMA's Vocal Duo of the Year.
