  • This song was written by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1968 after sessions for the album The Beatles. It eventually appeared on Lennon's Imagine album with George Harrison contributing guitar.
  • When Yoko Ono was asked to choose her 10 all-time favorite John Lennon songs for Rolling Stone's playlist feature in November 2010, her first-place selection was this tune. She said: "It's not so much about sexual interest or 'I miss you' – it's more to do with true love."
  • Many other artists have covered this song including Cilla Black, Jackson Browne, Yellowcard, and Martin Gore.
  • The song was used in several key scenes during the 2001 romantic comedy movie, Heartbreakers. It also featured on the soundtrack for the 1980 teen film, Little Darlings.
