Songfacts®:

  • This is a rockabilly-style song that reflected the simpler rock n' roll that Lennon loved as a teenager. John was even able to work in the standard rockabilly line, "Weeeheeellll."
  • The title was a joke on the lyrics that start out saying various things were "tight as..." then later in the song became the slang term, "tight ass." >>>

  • Wayne from New Haven, CtDave Spinozza plays that great lead guitar
on this song. His Cousin Freddie, played the drums in my band a few years back. We just a had a small cover/original band out of New Haven, Ct.
  • Kevin from Reading , PaThis song, while likeable upon initial listenings, ends up being an example of the kind of filler Lennon produced on "Mind Games" and "Walls and Bridges." Shellshocked after the berating he took for "Some Time in NYC" and by his split from Yoko, John just didn't seem to have a lot to say, as this song points out. Fortunately, even in his slump, he managed to come up with the song "Mind Games" and "#9 Dream," which, for my money, may be his best post Beatles songs. They have aged well because they are not linked to the "news of the day" or to his domestic situaiton at the time.
