Songfacts®:

  • "Roll Call" is a little-known song Johnny Cash recorded for his friend B. J. Carnahan, whom he met while in the Air Force in Landsberg, Germany. The demo was made in a garage studio in Abilene, Texas. It was pressed on the flip side of a song "Rosanna," but neither caught on. Cash stayed in touch with Carnahan and sent him a letter describing their days of good fishing at a place called Oberammergau. >>>
