  • JoJo Siwa was born Joelle Joanie Siwa in Omaha, Nebraska, to Jessalynn Siwa (née Lombardi), a professional dance instructor, and Tom Siwa, a chiropractor.
  • JoJo's journey began on reality dance shows. She started her career in 2013 as a Top-5 finalist and the youngest contestant on the second season of Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. JoJo subsequently appeared on Dance Moms (2015-2016) alongside her mom, quickly gaining recognition for her talent and signature style.
  • After Dance Moms, JoJo signed with Nickelodeon in 2017. This opened doors for her to act in various shows and films aimed at young audiences.
  • Nickelodeon helped launch her her music career. JoJo's catchy pop songs, often with empowering messages, became huge hits with kids, especially the anti-bullying track "Boomerang."
  • With a massive following on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, JoJo is a social media influencer who connects with her fans (whom she calls Siwanatorz) through dance challenges, vlogs, and glimpses into her life.
  • JoJo has built a successful business empire. Her signature brightly colored bows, headbands, and accessories are a staple among kids. She also has her own clothing lines, toys, and homeware, making her a recognizable brand.
  • She was one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in 2020.
  • JoJo came out as queer in January 2021. Since then, she has been an outspoken ally for the LGBTQ+ community.
  • In 2024, JoJo ditched her bubblegum pop persona and launched her "adult" music career with the single "Karma" and its music video. She said she wanted to rebrand herself like Miley Cyrus did with her album Bangerz.
