Songfacts®:

  • On this track from the Victoria, BC folk trio Jon and Roy, they sing about how many great men have tried to succeed at this thing called love. When we asked Jon Middleton if it came from personal experience, he replied: "Definitely. It's a tough thing to successfully manage, is love. Seems like you just fall in love or you have love for people. It's not as easy as it's made out to be in Disney movies."

Despite the challenges, Jon feels very optimistic when it comes to matters of the heart. "I think love is 100% attainable," he adds. "I just think that a lot of people live, including myself, in fantasy ways of looking at it. That's probably just the way we're raised."
  • Regarding the title of this song and its accompanying album, Jon Middleton told Songfacts: "It means a couple of different things for us as a band. It meant letting go of old ways, of being more free musically. Letting go of those old ideas we had of what we should be doing or what we should be playing."
