  • Jon Patrick Walker had wanted to write a love song for his wife - actress Hope Davis - for a long time, but didn't want to resort to the typical saccharine fare. Instead, he came up with a story about a love-struck guy who begs his lover to acknowledge his adoration. Not quite like his real-life relationship, but it's a fun twist. In our interview with Walker, he explained: "I'm taking a sort of classic pop angle on a song, the lover who's feeling in some way spurned or disregarded, or 'don't you know, can't you see how much I love you?' In reality, I don't actually have those problems with my wife in a personal way. I know that she knows, and she knows that I know that I know that she knows. But in the song I found a way in to writing a song for her that was taking that classic pop attitude of 'don't you see how much I love you.' And so it gave it, for me, a sort of a sense of humor or a lightness to it that was fun, it was fun to write."
  • "The Hopie Song" is featured on Walker's debut album, The Guilty Party. Hope Davis makes a cameo appearance in the music video.
