Songfacts®:

  • Jonas Blue teamed up with Jack & Jack for this synth-heavy track. Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky are a pop-rap duo from Omaha, Nebraska, who are best known for their 2014 single "Wild Life," which peaked at #87 on Hot 100. The English DJ reached out to Jack and Jack after hearing them interviewed on a Los Angeles radio station. He decided they were the perfect vocalists for this summer anthem.
  • The song is a feel-good house-pop anthem about refusing to grow up.

They trying to hate hate hate
But we won't change change anything at all
We're gonna ri-ri-ri-ri-rise 'til we fall

Jonas Blue decided that Jack and Jack had that special something to provide the vocals for this archetypal teenage story of never giving up.
  • "Rise" lived up to its title, when it zoomed 14 places on the UK singles chart to #17, becoming Jonas Blue's fifth Top 20 hit.
  • Jonas Blue wrote this with Ed Drewett and Sam Romans, the same collaborators that helped pen his "Mama" single. He told Billboard:

"We picked up where we left off with 'Mama' but also took it to another level. It's an anthem for the millennials, and Jack & Jack were the perfect feature. It's their generation that the song is talking to, and they connected so perfectly with the song."
  • The song was also included on Jack and Jack's debut album A Good Friend Is Nice.
