Songfacts®:

  • Here, Jorja Smith sings of an indifferent paramour. While she's putting all her energy into their relationship, her love interest is not reciprocating, or even noticing the attention she's giving him. "You're the only thing that I need," she croons, before adding defiantly, "You should be addicted to me."
  • Jorja Smith wrote the song with Olufemi David Koleoso, Mutale Chashi, Amane, Benjamin Totten and the track's producer, Joel Compass.

Joel Compass had some success in the mid-2010s as a singer-songwriter, including the UK Top 40 hit, "Forgive Me." He later turned to production, helming tracks for the likes of Cheryl Cole ("Coming Up for Air") and Queen Naija ("Bad Boy").
  • Compass previously collaborated with Jorja Smith on her Lost & Found tracks "On Your Own" and "The One." Here, he supplies a subdued production, highlighting Smith's vocals over a moody guitar.
  • Smith co-directed the music video with filmmaker and photographer Savanah Leaf (Gary Clark's "This Land"). Shot entirely on webcam, we see her crooning the song in a variety of outfits. The video is multiple versions of me singing the song," said Smith. "Having fun dressing up, not trying to be too serious and just giving myself more freedom."
