  • Josh Todd, lead singer of Buckcherry, said in an interview with Star Polish: "Whenever I write, I always have this tragic thing going on in all the songs, even though some of it is positive. I don't know what that is about. Sometimes I'm just attracted to words and shine' has always been a word that I really have loved over the years. I always wanted to write a song about it, and when I heard the music I knew that [song] would be 'Shine.' It's about the disappointment that goes on in relationships sometimes, with other people - lovers or friends - and the stuff that you go through. Then you have the breakthrough at the end, the make-up. I've developed a relationship with a higher power over the years and it's been just a struggle for me to stay in faith. That's what "Shine" is really about - staying in faith rather than fear."
