Songfacts®:

  • This song finds Joyner Lucas playing a womanizer with a reputation for breaking hearts. During the chorus, he admits that his unacceptable behavior ruined his relationship with his homegirl.
  • There are two verses:

The first, rapped by Lucas, finds him dismayed that his ex has gone wild. Her partying with other men, getting drunk and sleeping around is out of character; her mother and friends blame Lucas' cheating ways for the change in her. Though his former girlfriend is sending him angry texts, Lucas takes solace knowing she's still interested in what he's doing.

The second verse finds J. Cole taking the mic. He portrays a third-party observer who used to be a no-good playa like Lucas. The reformed philanderer tells his womanizing colleague he only has himself to blame.
  • The song concludes with a further revelation of the vile way Lucas treated his former girlfriend. Cole admonishes the Massachusetts rapper for being stingy with her. He tells him her new boyfriend will spoil his ex the way she deserves.
  • This marks the first collaboration between Joyner Lucas and J. Cole. Lucas' label, Twenty Nine Music Group, unexpectedly issued the song on September 24, 2021. His fans didn't know about the track until Lucas revealed the title and cover in an Instragram post hours before its release.
  • There are three producers on the cut:

Chicago producer and sample-maker Hagan Lange (Future and Lil Uzi Vert's "Drankin N Smokin," Morray's "Quicksand").

Columbus producer and sample-maker Luke "LC" Clay (YoungBoy Never Broke Again's "All In," Rod Wave's "I Remember").

Danish producer Palaze (Pop Smoke's "For The Night" and "Enjoy Yourself").
