Songfacts®:

  • Juice WRLD regularly talked in his music about his struggles to cope with substance abuse ("RUN," "Bandit") and depression ("Empty," "Righteous"). Here, Juice raps about how he started taking drugs to ease his emotional pain, but now it's morphed into an addiction that is killing him. He wishes he could just throw all his hurt into a wishing well and make it disappear; sadly such wishes only happen in fairy tales.
  • During the chorus, Juice talks about using Percocet to relieve his stress. A side effect of the painkiller is an opioid-induced chronic itching.

I still try even though I know I'm gon' fail
Stress on my shoulders like an anvil
Perky got me itching like an anthill

It was Juice's addiction to Percocet that led to his death on December 8, 2019. The rapper suffered cardiac arrest after swallowing multiple Percocet pills in Chicago's Midway Airport.
  • Juice wrote "Wishing Well" in collaboration with the track's producers, ChopsquadDJ (Trippie Redd's "Topanga") and Dr. Luke (Doja Cat's "Say So").
