Songfacts®:

  • Here, French electronic duo Justice join forces with the psychedelic mastermind Kevin Parker of Tame Impala for a track that's equal parts dark seduction and disco fever.
  • Parker croons a haunting love story about a romantic obsession. So smitten is the Aussie singer he's willing to become a woman if it means they can be together. The lyrics loop hypnotically, but the bridge explodes into a pulsating disco groove. It's a desperate plea wrapped in a dance floor anthem promising an unforgettable night.
  • "One Night/All Night" was written by Justice's Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, Kevin Parker, and Dutch DJ, J. C. J. Hanneman. The Justice duo produced the track.
  • Released on January 24, 2024, "One Night/All Night" was Justice's first new music in almost eight years, following their 2016 studio album Woman. The song served as the lead single of their 2024 album Hyperdrama, together as a double A-side with "Generator," another track from the LP.

"We wanted this track to sound as if a dark/techno iteration of Justice had found a sample of a disco iteration of Kevin Parker," said Justice. "Kevin has a sense of melody that's fascinating in the sense that he manages to write melodies that feel both simple and natural, but very peculiar at the same time. This song oscillates between pure electronic music and pure disco but you never really get the two at the same time. This very idea of switching instantly from a genre to another within a song runs through the whole record, and is maybe showcased the clearest in One Night/All Night."
  • The accompanying video, directed by Anton Tammi, takes viewers on a trip inside Justice's iconic cross logo. With flashing lights and pulsing keyboards, it's a mind-bending journey into the heart (and lungs?) of Justice's sound.

"I suggested to them that what if we dive in? What if their music video was a journey inside the cross?" said Tammi. "I dreamed of creating a piece like this. A strange and experimental object that looks like rave lighting inside human lungs and strobe light around a human heart."
  • Kevin Parker also sings on the album opener, "Never Ender." De Rosnay told Billboard the Justice duo had Parker in mind as a vocalist for almost a decade, ever since the French pair were asked to remix Tame Impala's 2012 single "Elephant." (While humbled, Justice ultimately declined because they just couldn't imagine topping the original.)
