Songfacts®:

  • Shower you with all my attention
Yeah, these are my only intentions

Justin Bieber was clearly loved up when he recorded Changes, as every track on the album was inspired by his wife Hailey. Here, he thanks his in-laws for raising his marriage partner and promises his utmost care to her.
  • Bieber is joined on the track by Migos rapper Quavo, who keeps the compliments flowing.

You the best thing and I don't need a witness

Quavo is likely directing his love at his girlfriend, fellow rapper Saweetie. They started dating in mid 2018.
  • This is the third time Bieber worked with Quavo. They both featured on DJ Khaled's "I'm the One" and "No Brainer" in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
  • Bieber and Quavo wrote the song alongside:

Bieber's go-to collaborator Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd, who partnered the Canadian star on the entire Changes album.

The Audibles, who are a hip-hop production duo from Las Vegas consisting of Dominic "DJ Mecca" Jordan and Jimmy "Jimmy G" Giannos. Their previous collaborations with Bieber include the Journals tracks "Recovery," "Hold Tight" and "Bad Day," plus the Purpose cut "No Pressure."

Poo Bear and The Audibles also supplied the slick electronic production.
  • Directed by Michael Ratner, the heartwarming video draws attention to vulnerable women and children in Los Angeles. It highlights the work of the nonprofit organization Alexandria House, which helps women "transitioning from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing." The clip recounts the story of three graduates from the housing program. Bieber and Quavo are also seen hanging out with some of the Alexandra House families.
  • Justin Bieber created the Intentions fund with Quavo, pledging $200,000 to support families at Alexandria House.
  • Justin Bieber performed this during the February 8, 2020 episode of Saturday Night Live. Quavo also joined in for his featured verse. Bieber's last appearance on the show was almost nine years previously on February 9, 2013.
  • Quavo's verse was an unexpected last-minute contribution just before the release. The song wasn't written with a feature or a spot in mind.
