Songfacts®:

  • "Yummy" is a smooth R&B anthem that finds Justin Bieber shouting out his wife Hailey. The grinding love song finds Biebs "elated" that she's his lady as she's "got that yummy yum." He relishes every toe-curling intimate moment he spends with his partner.
  • The word "yummy" has evolved from an expression of delight at delicious food, to a slang word for a desirable hot-looking woman. The term "yummy mummy" is used to describe a young, well groomed, sexually attractive middle class mother.
  • This flirty R&Bieber tune is the first well-known "yummy" song since Ohio Express sang "Yummy Yummy Yummy, I got love in my tummy" back in 1969.
  • The song was Justin Bieber's first solo release since his 2016 Purpose single "Company." In the meantime, he dropped collaborative tracks with Bloodpop ("Friends"), Ed Sheeran ("I Don't Care") and Dan + Shay ("10,000 Hours"). The Biebs also jumped on Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" remix.
  • Justin Bieber co-wrote "Yummy" with his go-to collaborator Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd, and with Noah Sammak (French Montana's "Unforgettable," The Weeknd's "Heartless").
  • Poo Bear produced the bouncy, trap-inspired song track with Sasha Sirota (Justin Bieber's "PYD," Ty Dolla $ign's "Famous") and Kid Culture (Lil Mosey's "Kamikaze," YBN Cordae's "Bad Idea").
  • The delectable video was directed by Bardia Zeinali, whose other credits include the visuals for Shawn Mendes' "If I Can't Have You" and Ariana Grande's "In My Head." Bieber, who is rocking pink hair and similarly colored Drew House clothing to match, shows up at a dinner party in a fancy restaurant. The singer proceeds to feast on an assortment of "yummy" edible concoctions, accompanied by a series of odd upper-crust patrons.
  • Summer Walker guests on the song's official remix. During her brand new verse, Walker offers a female response to Bieber's bars that leaves little to the imagination.
  • Justin Bieber performed a stripped-down version of the song, accompanied by cello, violin and acoustic guitar, during the February 8, 2020 episode of Saturday Night Live. It was his first appearance on the show in seven years.
  • Justin Bieber released a country remix of the song featuring Florida Georgia Line on February 19, 2020. The new version features a brand-new verse by FGL's Tyler Hubbard, where he references Waffle House, Chick-Fil-A and home cooking. Hubbard, his FGL colleague Brian Kelley and Bieber then combine for a final countrified verse.

Bieber previously dipped his toes into Nashville waters with his Dan + Shay crossover collab "10,000 Hours."
  • That's Tyler Hubbard's toddler daughter Olivia saying "yummy" at the beginning of the country remix.
