Songfacts®:

  • This John Lodge penned song is full of abstract lyrics. Lodge explained to ZigZag magazine December 1976: "It's ideas I think, or a lack of a definite statements if you like... a collection of thoughts really. I don't believe you have to pigeonhole everything that you think or say; it's the decision that you make after you think about everything. It's what you do with it, that's what 'You' is really all about."
  • Regarding the instrumentation, Lodge explained: "I was fiddling about with different types of tunings on the guitar, and I found this chord I was interested in. I knew someday it would turn up."
