Songfacts®:

  • Justin Moore and Riley Green released their duet "Everybody Get Along" on March 31, 2023. The song is a call to arms for harmony and empathy in a time when folks seem to be butting heads more than ever. Moore and Green each lay down their own experiences and values in their verses, but then they join forces to sing about the importance of getting along.
  • Moore teamed up with David Lee Murphy and Jeremy Stover to pen this jaunty, singalong ditty, where the pair take on the roles of two pals who, despite having different tastes, connect over their shared humanity and compassion.

Right off the bat, we get a glimpse into the playful competition between these two buddies. Moore and Green start things off with a witty exchange in the opening verse.

    I like a Chevy, and I like a Ford
Waylon was the man, no it was Hank in 84
Now you can't beat Dale Earnhardt, no Petty was the king
Well I like the Smoky Mountains and I like the Panama City Beach

But their differences don't last long, and the good ol' country boys come together on the chorus.

I like this, and he likes that
But when push comes to shove, we always have each other's backs
In a world full of squabbles, fights, and disagreement galore
Why can't we all just get along like you and me, and even more?
  • Moore and Green first met in the mid 2010s. "We had mutual friends and I was familiar with his career even before he signed a record deal, because I had some friends from his neck of the woods," Moore explained to Billboard. "Before we did this song, he actually shared a photo of himself in my meet-and-greet line from like 15 years ago. It made me feel old, but it was funny. The irony in the song is that these two guys are exactly alike and what they are fighting over is petty stuff. But he and I see life through the same lens, for the most part."
