Songfacts®:

  • In this song, Moore's girl has left him in the dust, and his heart feels like hell on a highway. There's a Bruce Springsteen reference in the line:

She's all about "Born To Run" when she's pissed off, and she's pissed off.

Whatever he did, it made her hit the road, hard.
  • Justin Moore was playing at a festival-type event in Texas when somebody sent him this Blake Bollinger, Matt Rogers and Ben Stennis penned song, and he immediately wanted to record it. However, there was a problem; Luke Bryan already had the tune on hold. Moore recalled on Taste of Country Nights:

"So I said, 'Well, I'll just text or call Luke.' I don't know which one I did, but he hit me back and said, 'Man, if you love it, take it.' And that speaks volumes about the type of guy Luke is. Luke and I have known each other since neither of us had a record deal. We've known each other a long time, and I'm very appreciative that he let us run with that."

Moore like the song so much, he called named his tour the Hell On A Highway Tour.
