Songfacts®:

  • "Someday I Gotta Quit" finds Justin Moore singing about a person's struggles with putting down the bottle. The song came from a conversation about vices. "Someone asked me about drinking or something one night," Moore said. "I just simply said, 'Yeah someday I gotta quit.' It made me think of things we all talk about as it pertains to our own personal struggles, whatever they may be."

Moore suggested the idea during a songwriting session with Casey Beathard, Paul DiGiovanni and Jeremy Stover. "We just ran with the fictional story about the guy in the song who has his own set of struggles," he said. "Hopefully, everyone can relate, regardless of what their struggles are personally. No doubt, we all have them."
  • Bluegrass musician Ilya Toshinsky kicks off the song with some moody dobro. The track also features pedal steel from one of the best Nashville session guitarists, Paul Franklin.
