This downbeat jam is produced by The Neptunes (a.k.a. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo), marking their first collaboration on a Timberlake solo song since the star's debut solo album Justified in 2002. Timberlake is a longtime friend of Pharrell Williams, but an industry squabble involving the hip-hop duo Clipse kept them from working together. Timberlake explained to Beats 1's Zane Lowe:

"I was not able to work with Pharrell… Everyone remembers Clipse. Clipse was signed to Jive Records, which I was also signed to. I don't know what went on with their deal, but I do remember that Pharrell was very adamant about getting them out of the deal. So it became challenging for him to work with any Jive artist at that point. If I'm being totally honest about it, I was extremely hurt being caught up in the middle of it. But at the same time, I had all the money stolen from me by somebody else when I was in the group. I had already gone through legal troubles. And I kinda felt like, 'You know what, I'm at this point where I feel like I have so much ahead of me, I don't want to be in the middle of the record label and somebody that I consider a friend.' And so I feel like I kind of just removed myself from the situation."
Lyrically, the song finds Timberlake assuring his girl he will provide all her needs.

Even if the world is about to end, and they have to retreat to a cabin in the woods, Timberlake's love will be her emergency supplies.
The dystopian video finds Timberlake taking a trippy ride through a dystopian city of the near future as he takes up the struggle against racism and materialism. His leading lady is Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez Reyna, who plays Santanico Pandemonium on the TV show From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. Pharell Williams also features in the clip.

The visual was filmed by Dave Myers who won Video of the Year at the 2017 VMAs for co-directing Kendrick Lamar's "HUMBLE."
