Juvenile

Juvenile Artistfacts

  • March 26, 1975
  • When he had his biggest hits, Juvenile was part of the Cash Money Millionaires, a New Orleans-based crew signed to Cash Money Records that also included Lil Wayne. They rose up in the late '90s alongside the No Limit crew to popularize the New Orleans bounce sound, best heard on Juvenile's 1998 booty classic "Back That Azz Up."
  • He had a falling out with Cash Money in 2000 when he looked over his contract and felt he was being cheated. He was contractually obligated to stay with them until 2005, but broke off other associations. "It was a lot of business that wasn't being taken care of," he told MTV.
  • He's had his share of trouble with the law, including a 2001 arrest for allegedly smashing a champagne bottle over a man's head, and a 2002 incident where he allegedly beat up a barber.
  • Juvenile played an NPR Tiny Desk Concert in 2023 after a fan tweeted him, asking if he'd do one. His response, "WTF is a Tiny Desk and no!" got a lot of heat, and when he learned about the series, he reconsidered. His performance went over very well and quickly racked up 10 million views. One of his backing musicians was Jon Batiste, who flew in to participate.
  • In 2025, he and his longtime producer Mannie Fresh launched the Still 400 podcast, which has included episodes with T.I., Mia X, T-Pain and various other hip-hop luminaries.
