Songfacts®:

  • The lead single from K. Michelle's debut studio album, Rebellious Soul, finds the singer crooning about the romantic night she's preparing for with her love interest. Her plans include some candles and some Hennessy VSOP cognac. Michelle explained: "It's that old boo thang that you can't get rid of, just that very special old pal. It's a feel-good record for the dudes and for the ladies. Pop some bottles, have some fun."
  • The uptempo ballad samples Debra Laws' 1981 classic tune "Very Special" and The Chi-Lites track "That's How Long" from their 1974 Toby album. The latter was made more famous by Jay-Z's Black Album cut, "December 4th."
  • Rebellious Soul entered the Billboard 200 at #2. It was the highest debut on the US album chart for a female R&B singer's first record since March 2001, when Marsha Ambrosius' Late Nights & Early Mornings also arrived at #2.
