Songfacts®:

  • A track from k-os sixth album Can't Fly Without Gravity, this song is not specifically about the highly acclaimed actor Denzel Washington, but certainly inspired by him, as it's meant to capture the feel of one of those famous movie scenes where he steps out in a suit, ready to take on some important business or impress a lady.

"I just picture this is a song that someone's going to put on when they're on their way to an event, or they're feeling kind of classy," k-os said in his Songfacts interview. "Denzel has told me that he feels himself in a way where you know that he does, but it doesn't come off as gaudy or weird. You just know that he's got style and it's cool. There's very few people that have that swagger who don't offend you or come off cheesy."
  • "Vous Deux" is French for "You Two," but it also takes on another meaning, as it's pronounced, "voodoo."
  • In certain romantic relationships, one or both partners is allowed a celebrity crush they may ogle freely. K-os' mom picked Denzel Washington, so when k-os was growing up, the actor was his icon for style and cool. Later on, k-os watched all of Washington's movies and came to admire him for his acting abilities. One thing he learned from following Washington's career: choose your projects carefully.
