Album: The Jungle Book (1967)

Songfacts®:

  • The song's title is not to be taken literally, quite the opposite in fact, because it was sung originally by a snake intent on devouring its beguiled prey. Written by the Sherman Brothers for the 1967 musical The Jungle Book, it is performed by Sterling Holloway as Kaa to Mowgli. Fortunately, just as the snake has him hypnotized, Mowgli is saved by Shere Khan, who is also intent on devouring him. While Kaa is distracted by the suspicious tiger, Mowgli comes out of his trance, and shortly flees to safety. >>>
