Songfacts®:

  • The phrase "I love you to death" is often bandied about without much real feeling behind it, but this track looks at a couple who embody it in the most literal way possible. According to Kamelot guitarist Thomas Youngblood, the song is about a pair of teenage lovers; when she gets a terminal disease, they vow to love each other into the afterlife.
  • Kamelot blends orchestral elements with rock, and their lyrics tend to be on the dark side. This is a great example, as the song combines a beautiful melody with a storyline that deals with death.
  • That's Amanda Somerville doing the female vocals; she sang on three other songs on the album as well, including the title track.

  • JaneIt's actually Amanda singing (check the booklet or Wikipedia) - she was Simone's vocal coach in the early Epica days (for The Phantom Agony), so the similarities are not suprising. :)
  • Ivaylo from BulgariaOn the female vocals it's Simone Simons from Epica here and not Amanda Somerville here singing. I'm a fan of both and Simone voice is so specific that it's impossible to miss it....
  • Dave from Greer, ScDoes most of this song sound off-key to anyone else? Anyone know why they did this?
