Songfacts®:

  • This seven-minute-long psychedelic and soulful number was released by Kanye West on September 17, 2010 as the fourth song in his "G.O.O.D. Friday" series, in which the Chicago MC releases a new tune to kick off the weekend every Friday.
  • The song boasts verses from West himself, Mos Def, Wu-Tang's Raekwon and fellow producer/MC Swizz Beatz. Each artist takes his turn rhyming over the laid-back bass-and-drums backing, whilst R&B vocalist Charlie Wilson supplies additional vocals.
  • The Chicago MC was tinkering with the song right up to midnight late on Friday. He tweeted, "Swizz laying his verse ... it's almost midnight #GOODFRIDAYS." Beatz joked that he and West had to play around with the Friday deadline for East Coast fans. "GOOD FRIDAY IS ON LA TiME TONIGHT LMAO!" he tweeted. The track eventually appeared online at 1:46 AM on the Saturday morning.
