Songfacts®:

  • Having called himself a god, Kanye West is now comparing himself here to the Godfather of Relativity. As well as bragging about being featured on a Time magazine cover, the G.O.O.D. Music supremo also addresses his reported personal debt and how he is perceived on social media. West tweeted: "I wrote Saint Pablo after admitting to my greatest shame my personal debt. But I'm not ashamed anymore."
  • West debuted the song on February 23, 2016 during an appearance at Yo Gotti's album release party at Los Angeles venue 1 Oak. He dropped the track just a week after his The Life Of Pablo record was made available on Tidal.
  • The song features vocals on the hook from Sampha. The London crooner also sung on Drake's Nothing Was The Same tracks "Too Much" and "The Motion."
  • The song borrows the bass-heavy beat from Jay-Z's In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 track "Where I'm From."
  • Four months after the release of The Life of Pablo, this was added in June 2016 to the tracklisting as the 20th and final song.
