Songfacts®:

  • This heart-crushing two-minute lo-fi acoustic dirge was written by Karen O back in 2006 and 2007 along with the rest of the Crush Songs album. "When I was 27, I crushed a lot," explained the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer. "I wasn't sure I'd ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours."

"'Rapt' is the second song written on this curated collection of crush songs from my personal library," Karen O added. This track is about someone who became a habit that was hard to kick."
  • The music video was directed by Karen's husband, director Barney Clay (TV On the Radio, Gnarls Barkley, Yeah Yeah Yeahs). The clip features production design from K.K. Barrett, who collaborated with Karen on her Stop the Virgens opera project and was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Her.
