Songfacts®:

  • This dark, desperate, but upbeat plea to an ex was released as the first single from English singer-songwriter Kate Nash's third album, Girl Talk. Nash confessed to The Independent that she found writing the record "cathartic" following a difficult couple of years, adding that she needed a release for her anger after splitting from The Cribs' Ryan Jarman, and the death of a close friend to cystic fibrosis.
  • Girl Talk was recorded in a rambling LA mansion with producer Tom Biller, following Nash's difficult couple of years. She told. Jam! Music: "It was just like me writing music to survive emotionally. (It was) my therapy during a really difficult time in my life and it was fueled by a lot of anger and hurt and pain. I was like, 'Either I make this album or have to go to a mental health clinic.'"
