Songfacts®:

  • This song is based on a personal experience concerning someone who wronged Nash and severely affected their relationship. The singer explained on her blog: "It's a very personal story that I'm not willing to go into but I can explain that this song is about loyalty, betrayal, friendship, death, loss. It is about not being able to cope. It is about extreme pain and not wanting to feel. It's about how someone conducts themselves as a whole person, it's about being used. It's about being let down and treated very badly by another person. It's about men and women. It's mostly about the breakdown of trust.

"The word whore is used to describe someone for many of their actions," she continued, "there is clear sexual references within the song but I'm not bitching about someone sleeping around. To me that's not what I would ever use the word whore for. Whore doesn't really have that meaning in my head because it's like I just wouldn't call someone a whore because of that. You should know that much about me dudes."
