Songfacts®:

  • This is the title track of British singer-songwriter Kate Nash's second album. It is a hidden song at the end of the album on which Nash's boyfriend, Cribs singer Ryan Jarman, plays violin.
  • Nash told the BBC that the album title relates to her grandparents, who have been married for 57 years. "They are a really good example of love," she said. "I have problems with what society tells us what love should be, especially as loads of young people just give up on relationships really quickly and there doesn't seem to be any work put in."
Nash added: "Love is being someone's best friend and just caring about them and nothing can interfere with that. It's just love."
  • The album was originally going to be titled Crayon Full of Colour, but was changed to My Best Friend Is You after fans complained on Nash's website that it was too similar to Paolo Nutini's single, "Pencil Full of Lead."
