  • This song was inspired by Kate Nash's 27th birthday, which the English singer-songwriter celebrated in Los Angeles. She said: "It was a wild night with special people and it was nice to be reminded of the close friendships I have out here in a new city. It also reminded me how much I have changed over the past two years and how much has happened! It's exciting to be 27! It feels like a very womanly age, I feel more secure in myself as I get older and I like this number a lot."

"I wrote letters to my sisters and the girlfriends back home that I couldn't spend the day with which in turn inspired a song," Nash added.
  • Nash not only wrote and recorded "She Rules" herself, but also edited its video on iMovie. "I shot some stuff on my iPhone, then I sent my friends the beats without the rest of the song and got them to film themselves on the 8mm app just dancing, and then I edited it together on iMovie and released it a few weeks ago," she explained to Billboard magazine. "It's fun and about girl love."
