Songfacts®:

  • Katy Perry cooks up a sweet seduction on this food-based banger:

    Hope you've got some room
For the world's best cherry pie
Gonna hit that sweet tooth, boy

The track is so saucy it even out-innuendos the majority of Prince's sex jams.
  • Just in case you have any doubt what the song is about, rap trio Migos spit some rhymes later on in the song, which make the sexual content even clearer ("I grab her legs and now divide, aight").
  • The collaboration is the latest track in Perry's catalog assisted by hip-hop heavyweights. Others include "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, "E.T." featuring Kanye West and "Dark Horse" featuring Juicy J.
  • The song was produced by Swedish hitmaker Max Martin. His many collaborations with Perry date back to the Californian singer's debut hit "I Kissed a Girl."
  • The song's music video was directed by the Montreal-based filmmakers collective Dent De Cuir. The clip, which features Chef Roy Choi, sees Perry being cooked by a group of men. Speaking to Australia's Kiss FM, Perry explained the visual is about female empowerment in the face of patriarchal oppression.

"It's like 'oh you just think you have me all figured out' and also we aren't just pieces of meat. You just want to use me, dispose of me, the parts that you want - I'm sorry, I'm in control this time", she revealed.

Perry added that she hoped the track can provide some "escapism" for her fans.

"It's nice, though, if I can pose a question or broaden a perspective - I just have to reflect sometimes on what's going on in the world a little bit, but also make some escapism music," she said.
