Songfacts®:

  • This throwback yuletide track was inspired by a holiday break that Katy Perry spent with her family in Copenhagen, Denmark. She loved the different traditions that the Danes have to celebrate Christmas; special chocolates, Christmas beer, real candles on the Christmas tree, and dancing around the tree. Perry said: "It's something you can't buy. It's just a feeling."

As Perry reflected on her special time in Denmark, she wrote a song that speaks love being more important than gifts.
  • Perry co-wrote the track with:

Greg Wells, who also produced Perry singles "Ur So Gay," "Waking Up In Vegas" and "Not Like the Movies."

Ferras Alqaisi, who was first artist signed to Unsub Records, a subsidiary of Capitol Records founded by Perry. He co-wrote several songs off her fifth studio album, Witness.
  • "Cozy Little Christmas" was originally exclusively on Amazon Music in November 2018. It quickly found an audience, peaking at #23 in the UK and #53 in the US. The song was distributed to all platforms on November 1, 2019, and this time it peaked one place higher at #22 in the UK.
  • The song is Perry's second Christmas offering, following 2015's "Every Day Is a Holiday."
  • Directing duo WATTS, comprised of Steve Aoki and Noah Cyrus, helmed the festive video. The clip adds some new flavor to Christmas traditions, with Katy portraying "Merry Perry, Santa's second wife." The two take off for a tropical holiday, where they are joined by a snowman, reindeer, elf and other holiday pals.
