Songfacts®:

  • In the closing track from Telescope, pop singer-songwriter Kelley Ryan introduces a free-spirited girl who follows her heart wherever she goes. Ryan, who splits her time between her home studios in Palm Springs, California and Cork, Ireland, was inspired by a real person.

She explains in Songfacts interview: "It's based on a girl I know in Ireland. She is really sweet and beautiful and a little kooky and everyone loves her. She just sort of all-of-the-sudden shows up in Paris as a cook, or Switzerland as an au pair or pops up in a country store making specialty foods to sell. She is lovable and unpredictable, the meaning of mercurial. You just can't pin her down and she steals your heart every time."
  • Ryan originally wrote this for a Gin Blossoms album but recorded it herself after the band wanted to go with their own songs. Ryan also collaborated with the band's original lead singer, Jesse Valenzuela, on the tune "How It Works" for her former pop project astroPuppees.
