Songfacts®:

  • Kelly Clarkson channels the numerous comments concerning her weight during this brassy number. Speaking to the Daily Mail about her ongoing decisions whether or not to engage the issue, she said:

"The media has always been obsessed with it [her size]. And I have felt conflicted over the years. Do you address it? Do you talk about it? Because then you just add to the noise. But people like me to talk about it, so I don't really mind carrying that flag. I love that people come up to me and say: 'Because you are comfortable in your skin, you have made me more comfortable in mine.' That's the best compliment ever."
  • Clarkson addressed the issue directly while introducing the song during an exclusive showcase at New York's Rainbow Room in September 2017. "Too skinny, too fat, too blonde - so much blah. This is who I am and I'm happy," she said. "Happy looks different on everyone."
  • Clarkson recalled to to Entertainment Weekly: "That day [in the studio] I was like, 'You know what I'm tired of? I'm tired of people running their mouth. I am a whole lotta woman - accept it or walk away!"
  • The song features horn and bass contributions from Earth, Wind & Fire. They're the only guests on Meaning of Life.
