Album: One Fine Day soundtrack (1996)

Songfacts®:

  • Kenny Loggins returned to the world of movie soundtracks with the theme from One Fine Day, starring George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer. As with "Danger Zone" (Top Gun) and "Meet Me Half Way" (Over The Top), it was not written by Loggins but by James Newton Howard, who scored the movie along with Jud Friedman and Allan Rich. It was covered later that same year by Rod Stewart.
  • This song was nominated for an Oscar but lost to "You Must Love Me" from Evita (sung by Madonna). Perhaps that was because most of the songs nominated for an Oscar that year were sung by women. >>>

  • This was included on Loggins' 1997 compilation album, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, which sold 1 million copies in the US.
  • This is Loggins' only #1 hit on the Adult Contemporary chart.
