Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Kenny Loggins' third studio album, this love song about keeping the romantic spark alive in a relationship was written by Loggins and his then-wife Eva Ein Loggins. It was released as the second single, following "This Is It."
  • Loggins' use of the vocoder was inspired by jazz/fusion keyboardist Herbie Hancock, who frequently used the device in the late '70s. "My bass player, George Hawkins, he turned me on to his record," he told Ultimate Classic Rock in 2014. "I love the sound of the vocoder, and that was long before it was the only sound you heard on pop radio."
  • This also peaked at #40 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
