Songfacts®:

  • One of Loggins' oddest songs, the title refers to a now-defunct private school for kids in Los Angeles called the Heartlight School. The song was inspired by writings of students at the school that Kenny read, including a story called "I like the love." The Heartlight School Singers and Dancers are in the chorus.
  • Originally called "Heartlight," the song was later re-titled "Welcome To Heartlight" to avoid confusion with the Neil Diamond song of the same name that was also released in 1982. >>>

  • This was the third and final single from High Adventure, Loggins' fourth solo album, following the Top 20 hits "Don't Fight It" (featuring Steve Perry) and "Heart To Heart."
  • Loggins produced the album with Bruce Botnick, who previously worked with The Doors, Eddie Money, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and the LA rock band Love.
