  • In this song, dancing is Kesha's liberation - her boogie feet are all she needs to be happy. She wrote the song with Pebe Sebert and with Drew Pearson, who also produced it. Pebe is Kesha's mom, and the genetic root of much of her musical talent. Before Kesha was born, Pebe was a singer and songwriter, and even co-wrote a #1 hit for Dolly Parton: "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You)." Later, she moved into artist development and help get Kesha's career going.

    The song was issued on her third album, Rainbow, which includes five other tracks Pearson worked on.
  • Kesha doesn't generally bring demos into recording sessions, preferring to get the songs started right in the studio, which is what she did here. In a Songfacts interview with Pebe Sebert, she said: "The initial inspiration where you come up with something you love happens in the studio, literally with coffee, chocolate and computers. You sit around in the room until you get that little magical bit. That happened on 'Boogie Feet.'"
  • The rock band Eagles of Death Metal feature on this track and serve as Kesha's backing band. According to a Rolling Stone interview, the group are like brothers to the singer. Kesha's been friends with Eagles of Death Metal since she was a teen superfan sneaking into their shows.
