Songfacts®:

  • Kesha's mom, Pebe Sebert, is a singer-songwriter who is best known for penning Dolly Parton's 1980 Country chart-topper "Old Flames (Can't Hold a Candle to You)." Mother and daughter have co-written several songs together, including "Your Love Is My Drug" and "Cannibal." This number about Kesha's dream of living on an island is another collaboration between the pair.
  • Q Magazine asked Kesha how her relationship with her mom affects the music they make together. She replied: "We have a rapport that you don't have usually with people that you work with, there's no bulls--t. She pushes me to write songs about what I talk to her about and daily life - so the "Potato Song (Cuz I Want To)" is about my long-term plan to move to an island where I can run around naked and ride ponies."
