Songfacts®:

  • Here, Khalid addresses a girl who is caught up in a toxic relationship. She has developed self-esteem issues because her lover is giving her so little attention. The singer attempts to pick up the downtrodden damsel by telling her she is far more precious than she perceives herself. He encourages the young lady to leave her uncaring partner, promising her "somethin' better's waitin' at your door."

"When I started writing this song, it was like I was singing to myself in the mirror," Khalid told Beats 1 of the track's inspiration. "I feel like the message in this song is something that I needed to hear at the time I was writing it."
  • The self-acceptance anthem is a collaboration with Disclosure, who supply the soft electro-R&B instrumentation. Khalid previously hooked up with the British duo for his 2019 hit "Talk."
